The Matecumbe 169 is described as a mid-range skiff scaled down from the Matecumbe 180. The deck can be configured from simple open bulkheads to multiple deck hatches, depending on storage needs. The page states it can be built as simple as you like or fully rigged, and notes that the simplest builds with a 30 hp tiller start at $29.5k boat, motor, and trailer ready for the water, while a center console with 60 hp is still less than $37k.

The boat takes chop very well, cruises easily 28-30 with the tohatsu 50 and can get up to 34-35. It poles fantastically from my perspective and is extremely quiet. It feels very stable on both the platform and now, and when poling into a shallow creek I kept thinking, I don’t think I’ll get over that, but was wrong most of the time. I doubt it’s the skinniest boat on the market, but it felt like I could get into places I’ve only gone with my paddleboard. For fit and finish, it’s not a Beavertail, but for me it didn’t carry the Beavertail price either. There’s nothing wrong with it worth complaining about from my point of view, just simple and solid.
